About Me

As a child, I immigrated from Blaj, Romania to Youngstown, Ohio. I attended Ursuline High School (Go Irish!) and I am extremely thankful for the scholarships that were able to support my education. I ran track all four years and held a steady job at Family Video. Senior year I was recognized nationally as an AP Scholar with Honors. My favorite classes were AP French and AP Chemistry.
I am currently in my fourth year studying Pre-Professional Zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University. I am a double minor in Chemistry and Sociology. At school, I try to stay as active as possible both academically and socially. I participate in various organizations, my favorite being Women's Club Rugby. My sophomore year, I became extremely passionate about public health issues after taking a medical anthropology class that focused on cross-cultural differences in healthcare resources.
My research interests pertain to infectious disease, primarily HIV/AIDS. This interest guides my enthusiasm for my summer internship work at The AIDS Institute. This year, I am in the process of applying to various MPH programs, with the hopes of concentrating in Global Health/Infectious Disease.
The purpose of this site is to blog about my internship experiences and my upcoming study abroad experience. Please see the above links for this information.

MY LATEST WORK
SU2014. Funded by a Theory-Into-Practice Grant at Ohio Wesleyan University, Dr. Mary Howard, PhD and I were able to study the role of structural violence in the distribution of public health resources in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I hope to continue this study in India. The above is an OWU Connection interview from Spring 2015.

SU2015. I will be working as a Public Health intern at The AIDS Institute in Tampa, FL. I am appreciative of the opportunities presented to me through this organization and the Great Lakes and Alumni Summer Internship Program. Throughout my internship, I will be updating with posts pertaining to my experiences.
